Laser Periodontal Treatment

LASER PERIODONTAL TREATMENT GENTLY ELIMINATES GINGIVITIS AND MORE

Almost half of all Americans suffer from periodontal disease, which is the leading cause of tooth loss. Many of those who have gum disease avoid going to the dentist for treatment out of fear of painful, invasive surgeries. At PGA Dentistry, Dr. Jay Ajmo can relate to the fear, as well as alleviate it. We offer laser periodontal therapy at our Palm Beach Gardens office to give you a chance to address your oral health needs in a comfortable, relaxed environment. Understanding The Procedure

During your first appointment, you will meet with Dr. Ajmo to discuss the details of your treatment and the goals you would like to achieve. If you have questions or concerns about laser periodontal treatment, this initial visit is a great time to address them. Traditional disease treatments have used tools that produce heat and friction, which can cause pain. Using the Biolase® Waterlase™, Dr. Ajmo can gently remove disease-causing bacteria and plaque without causing extraneous pain.

On the day of your procedure, we will use a local anesthetic to ensure your comfort for the duration of the process. In just 15 minutes, the Waterlase® will deliver precise, permanent results. Used for laser gum contouring and other various soft-tissue abnormalities, Waterlase® technology can reduce the appearance of your gummy smile, remove small lesions on your cheeks and tongue, and treat periodontal disease.

Recovery

We put our patient’s needs first at our Palm Beach Gardens practice and go to great lengths to minimize your downtime after laser periodontal treatment. Any mild pain or inflammation you may experience after the treatment can be easily treated with normal, over-the-counter medication. You will be able to return to your normal activity almost immediately after your appointment.

The Benefits

If you want to avoid pain and invasive surgery, but have a periodontal condition that requires an expert’s attention, laser periodontal therapy can help. Biolase® Waterlase® gives Dr. Ajmo the chance to increase your comfort with less anesthesia and shorter downtime. The Waterlase® laser reduces the risk of trauma to your healthy teeth (often caused by dental drills) and results in less bleeding and swelling. At PGA Dentistry, our goal is to give you the most positive dental experience possible. We believe that our laser periodontal therapy is a great example of the accurate, gentle care we want to provide you.
